This policy takes effect on 4 November 2026. You can reopen this information from Settings at any time.

Information saved on this iPad

The app saves your downloaded or imported songs, setlists and song order, private text notes and Pencil drawings, separately published band markings, chart preferences including capo, number display and section arrangements, selected YouTube links, rehearsal preferences and imported audio in its local storage.

Complete backup in Settings creates a portable file containing the downloaded library, manual setlists, song files, notes, drawings, imported audio, video references and supported preferences. You choose where to save or share it. It contains no Dropbox password or authorization tokens and does not transfer verified band permissions. Restoring replaces the included local content on the next full app launch and keeps a local recovery copy; Dropbox access and current band readiness must be checked again. Keep exported backups in a location appropriate for your personal notes and licensed song files.

Names, instruments and local contact details that you enter for your band are saved locally. Shared-band setup additionally uses Dropbox account names, email addresses, account IDs and membership status, with a per-account offline status cache. The app does not read your iPad Contacts.

This version has no developer-operated online account service, analytics service or advertising service. Your iPad's normal backup settings may also apply to local app content. Third-party services described below have their own data practices.

Dropbox connection

Dropbox is optional. Dropbox setup requests approval to read and write files, verify account identity and check shared-file authorship. The app uses writing for explicit band setlist uploads, updates, deletion, administrator-managed leader settings and automatic backup of your selected YouTube links. Existing limited connections show Finish Dropbox setup to request the additional approval. Choosing shared-band membership setup separately requests sharing.write so the app can share the selected folder, send Dropbox invitations, accept and mount an invited folder, and remove shared-folder access. These actions require your explicit in-app choices and Dropbox approval; ordinary startup does not open a new consent screen.

After you approve Dropbox setup, selected YouTube links and deliberate clears back up automatically to Simple Setlists Backups/YouTube Links in your Dropbox account, separate from the shared band folder. Each record contains a stable song reference, the selected video identifier and optional title, a change identifier and whether you cleared the selection. It contains no video, audio, original song file or Dropbox credentials. Backup uses a per-account folder; a new test project can restore those records after you connect the same Dropbox account. Keep the backup folder unshared; Dropbox's own access and recovery settings still apply.

Manual setlists stay on this iPad until you choose Upload to band folder. A band upload includes original song files, order, names, saved YouTube video references, creator Dropbox account ID and name, an opaque setlist ID and creation/update dates. It does not include your Dropbox tokens, imported audio or personal text notes or editable Pencil drawings. Other people with access to the shared folder can download these files.

The published band video is saved per setlist and is used for that sheet, including a deliberate no-video selection. Personal practice links and their backups stay separate and do not override it. Updating the band's video requires the creator, an approved leader or Craig to explicitly review and publish a change. Other members receive that change after their next successful sync; an offline copy can retain an earlier published version.

After a successful band sync, the app sends a small download acknowledgement to the selected shared folder. It contains the Dropbox account ID and display name, band folder and setlist identifiers, the saved setlist and band-note versions, an inventory digest and download date. Band members can see these acknowledgements in Band readiness. They describe a completed local save, not live presence or confirmation that every device still has its files. Older apps may not send them.

Private notes and Pencil markings remain separate from the band layer. The setlist's creator, an approved leader or the administrator can explicitly publish a band draft containing text, positions, styles and editable Pencil drawings, song references, the publisher's account ID and update date. Other members download the published markings on sync and can hide them without changing the band's copy. Publishing does not automatically upload personal notes. Shared-folder members can retain downloaded markings and backups.

The app caches verified Dropbox identity and leader permissions for offline use. Craig's administrator identity is pinned to his Dropbox account ID after verification; local band names and nearby leader mode do not grant cloud permissions. Permission changes reach other iPads on their next successful sync. These restrictions apply inside this app; Dropbox folder editors retain their normal rights outside it.

For shared-band membership, Dropbox receives the selected folder and member account or email identifiers. Choosing Invite sends a Dropbox folder invitation to that email; the app also offers an invitation attachment for you to send through your chosen service. The shared member list shows provider-confirmed pending and joined folder access, not whether an iPad has completed its song download. Folder owners can remove access, while offline or independently exported copies can remain. Local contact removal alone does not revoke Dropbox access. Dropbox receives the sign-in and file requests needed for this feature, including requested folder paths or file identifiers and normal network information such as your IP address. Dropbox handles its account, device and service data under its privacy policy.

Sign-in uses Dropbox's authorization screen. This app stores its Dropbox access and refresh tokens in the iPad Keychain; it does not store your Dropbox password. The authorization browser may remember an existing Dropbox sign-in.

After you connect, automatic startup sync is on unless you turn it off in Settings. You can disconnect Dropbox in Settings to remove this app's saved connection. Disconnecting does not delete your downloaded songs or your Dropbox account.

YouTube search and playback

When you search for a video, the app sends the song title and, if available, artist and CCLI song number as search text to YouTube. The church licence number is not included. Your selected video identifier and title are saved locally with the song.

YouTube search and preview use a temporary browser session. The embedded player on the song sheet uses WebKit's normal website data store. These are separate sessions, and temporary local browsing does not mean that YouTube receives no information.

Opening the player connects to YouTube to display its content. Google and YouTube can receive information such as your IP address, app identity, browser information, cookies and video/player interactions. Some information is sent when the player loads, and additional information can be processed during playback. YouTube may show advertisements.

Google and YouTube process information under their policies and your provider settings. The app does not download YouTube video or audio into your song library. You can remove or replace a song's saved link. When Dropbox is connected, those choices also back up to Dropbox as described above; backing up a reference does not contact YouTube to play or download it.

This app does not request access to your Google account through its own Google authorization connection. Google's account permissions page manages authorizations you may have granted to other services; clearing a saved song link is separate from managing a Google account.

SongSelect website

SongSelect opens its website in an in-app browser so you can sign in, search and download formats available to your account. CCLI receives information you enter on its website and the network, usage and cookie information its website processes.

The SongSelect browser keeps a website session so you can stay signed in. This app does not extract the website's password or session cookies into your song library. A downloaded song file is added to your song library when you import it.

SongSelect controls its accounts, subscriptions, downloads and website policies. Visit its website to review its current terms and privacy information or manage your account.

Nearby band iPads

When you enable nearby mode and connect band iPads, the app shares a device display name with a short app-generated identifier so you can recognise the right iPad.

Connected iPads can exchange the selected chart PDF, song title and key, page commands, requested setlists and song files. Live chord, key, bass and MIDI-note readings can also be shared when that feature is enabled.

Nearby sessions use Apple's encrypted device-to-device connection. This feature does not use a developer-operated relay server. Shared setlist metadata can include its source folder or file paths. Only connect to people and devices you intend to share with.

Invitations and files you share

A band invitation contains the band name, leader name, optional invited person's name and app-generated identifiers. A connected-band invitation also contains its shared-folder ID, verified owner account ID and the chosen recipient's Dropbox email address. It contains no password or access token. Accepting it verifies access with Dropbox, saves the recipient's mounted folder and downloads the band setlists. Older local-only invitations remain readable.

A portable setlist package contains the selected song files and order, song and setlist names, the saved YouTube video references selected for that setlist, and the sender and band labels you choose. Its package metadata includes its creation date. Video and audio are not downloaded or included; source Dropbox paths and revisions are removed from that portable package.

You choose the recipients or destination using the iPad share sheet or Files. Messages, Mail, WhatsApp, Dropbox or any other chosen provider applies its own policies. A recipient can keep a copy after receiving it. Share only material you are allowed to distribute.

Bluetooth, local network and MIDI

Local network access lets the app find and connect nearby band iPads. Bluetooth access lets you connect a MIDI keyboard or foot pedal. You can manage these permissions in iPad Settings.

Live chord detection processes MIDI note messages on this iPad. It does not record microphone audio. Its interpretation is an estimate and can be ambiguous; check the result when accuracy matters.

The app does not request the microphone, camera, Photos, device Contacts or location permissions. Connected websites and services can still receive normal network information as described above.

Your choices and stored data

Use the app's song, setlist and note controls to remove local items. You can clear a linked video or imported audio, disconnect nearby devices, disable MIDI input, turn off automatic Dropbox sync or sign out of Dropbox.

Local content is kept until you remove it or delete the app's documents. Sign out of Dropbox before removing the app if you want its saved Keychain connection cleared; uninstalling alone is not a reliable way to remove Keychain entries.

Remove from this iPad keeps the shared Dropbox copy. Delete from band removes the shared setlist package; other iPads remove that synced band copy after their next successful sync. Separate local drafts, previously shared attachments, provider recovery copies and backups may remain. Manage provider accounts and retained information through those services. Contact Info@TheMcPhersons.com.au for questions about this app's privacy practices.

Policy changes

This information describes version 1.42 (48). If the app's information practices change materially, the policy revision will change and the app will ask you to review the updated information. Agreement does not reset your songs, settings or saved service connections.

Terms of use

Your songs and permissions

Import, use and share only music, audio, PDFs and other content that you own or are authorised to use. You remain responsible for any copyright, church licence, reproduction, performance and distribution requirements.

Importing or sharing a file through this app does not grant a music licence. A SongSelect subscription or a YouTube link does not automatically give permission to copy or distribute the underlying music.

Third-party services

By using the YouTube features in Simple Setlists, you agree to be bound by YouTube's Terms of Service. Google's Privacy Policy explains Google's processing of information.

Dropbox and SongSelect features are also subject to those providers' terms, account permissions and service availability. Internet playback and online downloads require an internet connection. Providers may restrict a file or video, change a service or make content unavailable.

Simple Setlists is independent software and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Dropbox, YouTube, Google or CCLI.

Using the app

Keep your original song files and independent backups. Review imported charts, transpositions and live chord estimates before relying on them in a performance.

Nearby followers see what the leader shares. Connect only to your intended band members and check the selected song, key and page. Service interruptions or device changes can delay updates.
